Dobin & Yunomi (pot & cups for green tea) –

I met a few potters friends I have not seen for a while at Art in Clay: Hatfield early this month. It is one of my reasons why I visit this event every year since it started 19 years ago.
As I have seen newcomers keep coming on, I have been trying to keep my mind open to find new talented potters. Unfortunately I saw rather too many young potters with little talent but with huge desire for instant fame recently. Something must be wrong with college education these days.
Where have all best British potters gone? They would not want [need] to be in this kind of events any more.

This year at ‘Art In Clay’, I found a nice dobin (tea pot) by Susanne Lukacs-Ringel from Germany. I like wood-fired porcelain and specially I liked her design and its form. The lid may need a bit of improvement to fit better but overall it was the best I could find at the event. I asked Susanne to make two matching yunomi for me. I am looking forward to receiving a couple of yunomi specially made for the dobin in the near future.
In the mean time, at home, I have to drink green tea with my favourite yunomi I alrady have. (Gas)

About Gas

Hi, I am a wood-fire potter, living and working in the Japanese tradition in Tring, Hertfordshire (UK). Following mediaeval potter's wisdom, I design and build simple wood-fired kilns called 'anagama' for long period of firing and 'raku-gama' for quick (glazed tea bowl) firing. My anagama firing usually takes 9 - 10 days.

Reminds me of photography back in the 70s.

Thanks for your comment but I am pretty puzzled with your comment. I don’t understamd what you are trying to tell me. I hope you will explain it to me. [Gas]
